The heritage of Accounting and Financial Advisory (AFA) goes back 30 years to the audit and consultancy firm Deloitte & Touche South Africa.
When ongoing regulatory developments both globally and in South Africa regarding auditor independence restricted the non-audit services an external audit firm such as Deloitte could offer, Deloitte South Africa took the decision in 2018 to carve out the financial management advisory business from its core operations. Accordingly, a newly formed 100% black-owned company, Accounting & Financial Advisory (Pty) Ltd, was founded following a management buyout in April 2018.
Our team of experts provide streamlined finance, accounting and digital solutions that can assist your organisation in increasing productivity and driving efficiency in a cost-effective manner.

OUR SERVICE OFFERINGS
We value excellence and diversity of perspective and we are committed to being an employer of choice that offers an inclusive environment and opportunities for accelerated growth for our employees. We strive to create a vibrant workplace where our people can grow and develop the capabilities to become leaders that tackle our client’s most important challenges, and capture their greatest opportunities.
With a wide range of clients in different industries, we add value to and build our employees’ skills by providing our team access to a diverse range of companies and roles across the industries we operate in. Our responsibility as an employer, beyond offering attractive professional opportunities is to cultivate the singularity and the complementarity of each of our employees.
The AFA Accelerated Growth Programme aims to equip our employees with diverse and valuable finance experience in a short period of time. Our employees have the unique opportunity to work in varied industries and differing roles over a three- to six-month period through our outsourcing philosophy. We work to ensure that every employee fulfils important financial roles through this programme. Our experienced senior management team ensures that our clients receive the best standard of work by supervising each employee’s progress. Since entering into the market, we have successfully delivered over 250 experienced finance resources into the economy, in roles ranging from accountants to financial managers and financial directors.
At AFA, we believe that skills development is vital towards encouraging sustainable growth within our society. In 2019, we implemented the AFA Learnership Programme for future leaders, mindful of the need to reduce the knowledge gap that exists within critical focus areas and address skills shortages and the rate of unemployment.
We remain determined to keep transformation at the core of our priorities and value our partnerships with organisations like Youth Employment Services (YES). We are proud to have partnered with skills development organisations to be a change-maker through support for valuable initiatives. We have made great advancements in our commitment to providing opportunities in our society, where everyone has a place and a role to play.
The annual learnership occurs over a 12-month period and is offered to approximately 10 students who are either unemployed, disabled or employment equity candidates. The learnership’s national qualifications framework (NQF) course is designed to enhance and maximise skills development, allowing students to increase their employability. We provide funding for the learnerships, offering each student a monthly stipend that covers their needs, allowing them to focus on completing their NQF courses. Our team plays a decisive role in providing mentorship and support for each of the students with regular visits to training campuses and invitations to our offices.
The world is filled with talented young leaders – but many of them never have access to the resources they need to make a difference. Through funding support towards the Thandulwazi Trust, we are making an active contribution towards the knowledge and skills learners require to become active and contributing members of our broader South African community. Our support assists high-school learners with resources required to attend extra lessons and resources for teachers to receive regular training.
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
We believe we have a responsibility to contribute to the communities in which we operate through various initiatives that we believe will have a positive contribution to South Africa now as well as in the future. Our ambition is to offer growth opportunities for diversity and inclusion that reflect our values and whose impact is positive for the whole of society. We want the initiatives we support to make a real, permanent difference, that is why we ensure that they are designed based on the needs of the community and deliver on local priorities.
In honour of Mandela Day, on 18 July 2019, the AFA team partnered with Rise Against Hunger Africain its fight to end child hunger by donating food hampers and participating in a national food drive…
Our commitment to social development extends beyond giving. We invest in our country’s future by focusing on sustainable initiatives that impact the communities we support.
