The heritage of Accounting and Financial Advisory (AFA) goes back 30 years to the audit and consultancy firm Deloitte & Touche South Africa.
When ongoing regulatory developments both globally and in South Africa regarding auditor independence restricted the non-audit services an external audit firm such as Deloitte could offer, Deloitte South Africa took the decision in 2018 to carve out the financial management advisory business from its core operations. Accordingly, a newly formed 100% black-owned company, Accounting & Financial Advisory (Pty) Ltd, was founded following a management buyout in April 2018.
With the intention to expand the AFA service offering and footprint, AFA established an office in the Netherlands on 24 July 2019. The new office paves the way for AFA to become an international accounting and finance management firm, serving both South African and European markets.

In 2019, we implemented a learnership programme for future leaders, mindful of the need to reduce the knowledge gap that exists within critical focus areas and address skills shortages and the rate of unemployment.

We have made great advancements in our commitment to providing opportunities in our society, where everyone has a place and a role to play.
The annual learnership occurs over a 12-month period and is offered to fourteen students who are either unemployed, disabled or employment equity candidates. The learnership’s national qualifications framework (NQF) course is designed to enhance and maximise skills development, allowing students to increase their employability. We provide funding for the learnerships, offering each student a monthly stipend that covers their needs, allowing them to focus on completing their NQF courses. Our team plays a decisive role in providing mentorship and support for each of the students with regular visits to the LFP campus and invitations to our offices.
